FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mechanical engineering, in particular to methods for controlling a boost pressure regulator in a turbocharger. Method of operation of the engine pressure regulator contains the steps in which the regulation of the feedback control is calculated based on the difference between the existing position and the required actuator position of the system equipped with a lever mechanism for the valve actuator. Combined feedback position control adjustment signal and non-harmonic oscillation are applied to the actuator so that the actuator moves to the desired position with reduced noise, vibration, and non-floating motion. Non-harmonic oscillation is a repetitive non-harmonic oscillation applied only to a subset of valve lifts of a boost pressure regulator valve closest to, but not corresponding to, the valve seat of a system equipped with a lever-operated valve actuator mechanism. Variants of the method of operation of the engine pressure regulator are disclosed.

EFFECT: technical result consists in reducing the noise, vibration and non-smoothness of movement in the angle of the charge pressure regulator.
