FIELD: smoking articles.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a smoking article comprising a combustible coal heat source, which is burnt by friction. Smoking article comprises a combustible coal heat source having opposite front and rear end surfaces; an aerosol-forming substrate located further downstream of the rear end surface of the combustible coal heat source; an incendiary composition provided on at least a portion of the front end surface of the combustible coal heat source; and one or more airflow paths, through which air can be drawn through a smoking article by a user for inhalation, wherein the incendiary composition is capable of ignition as a result of twitching the front end surface of the combustible coal heat source on the friction surface, and this incendiary composition is isolated from said one or more airflow paths such that when used, air drawn in said one or more airflow paths does not contact directly with the ignition composition.
EFFECT: technical result of the invention is the creation of a heated smoking article containing a combustible coal-containing heat source, which can be easily and quickly adapted to ignition by a user in a reliable and stable manner without using a match, a lighter or other external heat source.
