FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices for detecting objects of metal that are moved through the control space. Metal detector contains transmitting coils mounted vertically on one side of the passage, receiving coils mounted vertically on the other side of the passage, control and display unit connected to transmitting and receiving coils and generating a signal about the presence and location of objects from metal in the control space on the display unit. Transmitting coils are placed in each of the six zones of the control space and are interconnected sequentially and in pairs, forming three groups of pairs of transmitting coils. Each pair of transmitting coils provides signal generation in three different zones. Receiving coils are connected to each other in series in two groups of receiving coils, forming two signal receiving areas. Each signal receiving area covers three adjacent areas of the control space. Each group of receiving coils is connected to the corresponding switch and forms its own signal transmission channel, each of which is connected to the control and indication unit. Generator is connected with transmitting coils with the possibility of sequential switching on with a given frequency of each group of transmitting coils for generating a signal in a part of the control space.
EFFECT: reduction of material and energy consumption while increasing the speed of multi-zone metal detectors.
