FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: multi-zone metal detector has transmitting and receiving coils installed on one and the other side of the passage, an indication unit and a control unit. The position identification of metal object is determined by sequentially turning each of the transmitting coils to generate an electromagnetic field in the part of the control space, signal processing of each receiving coil, including determination of metal object presence in each detection zone between transmitting and receiving coils, calculation of position identification of metal objects in the reference space based on data of metal objects presence in each detection zone.

EFFECT: expanded technical capabilities of multi-zone metal detector when detecting of metal objects in the control space.
