SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in internal combustion engines for vehicles. Method for diagnosing catalytic converter (70) comprises adjusting the oxygen accumulation estimation limit in the catalytic converter (70) in response to the slope of the output signal of catalytic converter control sensor (127). Catalytic converter (70) degradation threshold is adjusted in response to the slope of the output signal of catalytic converter control sensor (127). Catalytic converter (70) degradation is indicated in response to a variable not greater than the catalytic converter degradation threshold. Fuel injection into engine (10) is adjusted by means of fuel injector (66) in response to an indication of degradation. Catalytic converter control sensor (127) is located downstream of catalytic converter (70). Vehicle system is disclosed.

EFFECT: technical result is higher accuracy of catalytic converter diagnosis.
