SUBSTANCE: method can be used in engine-building, in particular in supercharging systems. Indication of degradation of the turbine with variable geometry based on a comparison of the simulated and measured sets of pressure values of the turbine. Each set of such turbine pressure values includes a pressure value upstream of the turbine and a pressure value downstream of the turbine. Further, a variable geometry turbine is located downstream of the engine cylinder. Disclosed is a method for operating an engine system and an engine system.
EFFECT: accurate and reliable detection and elimination of degradation of a variable-geometry turbine under a wide range of engine operating conditions.
