FIELD: instrument engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to cutting tools used for surface treatment of rotary bodies by milling, in particular, to cutters. Cutting tool intended for metal cutting, contains a body in the form of a disk with an outer working surface, in which slots for installing cutting plates are made at an angle to the axis of rotation, and the main cutting edge of the cutting plates is curved (flat curve) with a radius of curvature defined by the formula R(cr) = D / (2 * cos^2(90 – ω)).
EFFECT: technical result provided by the above set of features of the tool is: reduction of cutting forces due to the angle of inclination of the main cutting edge, which affects the reduction of roughness and increase the accuracy of the shape of a treated surface; reduction of vibration during processing is achieved by exact repetition of the profile of the main cutting edge and the treated surface; increased resistance of the cutting plate due to the constant change of the contact patch along the profile of the cutting edge; reduced time to install or replace the cutting plates in the tool housing slots.
