FIELD: oil refining.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of oil refining, in particular to method of producing highly oxidized roofing bitumen, used both independently and as a component of a flexible tile. Method for producing bitumen includes vacuum distillation of fuel oil to produce tar and slop, mixing the resulting tar with slop, oxidation of the mixture with air oxygen at elevated temperature, while vacuum distillation of fuel oil is carried out with obtaining tar with a nominal viscosity of 70–175 s at 80 °C, with content of paraffin-naphthene hydrocarbons more than 18 wt. %, the mixture of tar and slop is produced to a working viscosity of 20–50 s at 80 °C, adjustable supply of tar, and the oxidation of the mixture is carried out in three columns, the first of which serves air.

EFFECT: method allows to obtain oxidized bitumen with high softening temperature, plasticity and a wide range of operating temperatures.
