FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to high-frequency hardware and can be used producing high-frequency radiation generators (HFG). Separated chamber for generator of high-frequency pulses based on discharge with hollow cathode contains gas-discharge chamber and auxiliary chamber, gas-discharge chamber includes hollow cathode and anode separated by insulator. Surface of cavity of hollow cathode and surface of anode facing it form working volume of gas-discharge chamber, and between the ends of the hollow cathode and the anode facing each other there is a gap, the gas-discharge chamber is communicated with the auxiliary chamber containing the gas-discharge medium generation system. Insulator is remote from working volume, hollow cathode and anode are structurally spaced relative to each other along longitudinal axis of gas-discharge chamber so that any plane of cross-section of gas-discharge chamber does not cross simultaneously hollow cathode and anode, and the gap is arranged such that the width of the gap near the working volume of the gas-discharge chamber is less than the width of the gap near the surface of the insulator and less than the distance from the working volume to the insulator (that is gap length in gas-discharge chamber longitudinal section). In a particular version of implementation, the width of the gap on the larger part of its length in the longitudinal section of the gas-discharge chamber can be equal to the width of the gap directly near the working volume of the gas-discharge chamber.

EFFECT: technical result is reduction of probability of ingress of electrodes erosion products to chamber insulator occurring in process of discharge combustion in chamber.
