FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to high-frequency hardware and can be used producing high-frequency radiation generators (HFG). Compared to a high-frequency radiation generator based on a discharge with a hollow cathode, having a gas-discharge chamber formed by a hollow cathode and an anode, a power supply and an electric load are connected to the electrodes of the chamber, in the disclosed generator the cavity is in form of a figure having a variable cross-section. In a particular embodiment, the cathode cavity has a conical shape.
EFFECT: technical result is increased width of frequency spectrum of HF-pulses generated by HF-generator based on discharge with hollow cathode, due to change of shape of cathode cavity.
