SUBSTANCE: methods and systems are presented to ensure the operation of the exhaust gas cleaning system for a car engine, allowing to increase the efficiency of the catalytic converter and reduce emissions from the engine. This method for release of exhaust gases of an engine contains the steps in which: during the cold start of the engine, the exhaust gases are passed first through a three-way catalytic converter, then through a sub-converter and then through a turbine; after activation of the catalytic converter, the exhaust gases are passed first through the turbine, then through the sub-converter and then through the three-component catalytic converter; and during the operation of the engine with a high load at least a partial bypass of the turbine is carried out.

EFFECT: proposed are a method (options) and system for reducing emissions.
