FIELD: hygiene.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to compositions for oral care. Composition contains a water-soluble zinc polyphosphate complex containing an organic zinc salt, such as zinc citrate, as well as sodium hexametaphosphate and a solvent; where the relative amount of the organic salt of zinc and sodium hexametaphosphate provides a molar ratio of phosphorus and zinc from 6:1 to 20:1. Also disclosed is a method of attenuating dentin sensitivity in a subject, comprising applying the composition on a subject's teeth and gums in an amount which is effective for treating dentin sensitivity.
EFFECT: group of inventions provides blocking of dentinal tubules, reducing sensitivity.
