SUBSTANCE: invention relates to navigation systems of a vehicle. Vehicle comprises memory storing instructions and a processor for executing commands. Processor prompts vehicle to determine current and predicted water depth for road sections at and near current route to destination based on meteorological data and historical flood data received from external server, wherein meteorological data include current and expected rainfall, and historical flooding data include previous measurements of water depth for road sections associated with current and expected rainfall, and retrospective locations of vehicles abandoned due to flooding, and in response to current or predicted water depth on road sections of current route, exceeding first threshold value, determine alternative route to destination.

EFFECT: improved vehicle safety.
