FIELD: vehicles.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method for detecting soot (solid particles) in a system of exhaust gases of a vehicle. Method comprising the following steps: collecting soot particles on sensor surface downstream of particulate filter to increase pressure inside sensor; repeated regeneration of the sensor surface to indicate the level of soot in response to pressure movement of the piston, wherein the carbon black level designation is based on the period of time between regenerations of the sensor; and regeneration of the particulate filter in response to the specified level of soot, wherein the exhaust gases exit the sensor through the outlet of the exhaust gases, perpendicular to the inlet hole of the exhaust gases.
EFFECT: use of the invention reduces the effect of shifted flow distribution in the sensor, reduces the effect of cooling exhaust gases and collision of large solid particles or drops of water.
