FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to strengthening heat treatment, namely, to plasma thermal and chemical-thermal treatment of surface layer of parts. Plasma treatment is carried out with a working plasma arc of direct polarity, which is burning between plasma-forming nozzle – cathode and article – anode. Between the plasmatron electrode – anode and plasma-forming nozzle the auxiliary (duty) arc of reverse polarity is constantly on. Separate power supplies are used to supply arcs.
EFFECT: high quality (hardness, strength, corrosion resistance, heat resistance and other) of surface treatment of metals (thermal and chemical-thermal) by coating and saturation of the surface layer of the article with cathode material.
