FIELD: radio engineering; radio navigation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio engineering, navigation and can be used to determine three-dimensional coordinates of an aircraft using a range-finding method at location of stations with known coordinates on a flat area. System of nonlinear equations is used, which connects unknown coordinates x, y and height h with distances Rn, n = 1, 2, …, N, from aircraft to stations with known coordinates xn, yn, n = 1, 2, …, N, in the system of nonlinear equations used, the position of the n-th station is given by a column vector Pn=[xn, yn]T with coordinates xn, yn, n = 1, 2, …, N (N≥3), the spatial position of the aircraft is determined by the vector P=[x, y]T with coordinates x, y and height h, then, transition from system of equations with three-dimensional coordinates to system with two-dimensional coordinates is performed, height of aircraft is determined from system of equations with two-dimensional coordinates.
EFFECT: high accuracy of determining coordinates of an aircraft.
