DIAGNOSTIC TECHNIQUE FOR HYPERFUNCTIONING PARATHYROID GLANDS Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC A61B6/03 A61K51/00 A61K103/10 A61P43/00

Abstract RU 2687569 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to medical radiology, endocrinology and surgery, and can be used for diagnosing hyperfunctioning parathyroid glands. A radiopharmaceutical preparation (RFP) is administered intravenously 99mTc-MIBI with activity of 300–700 MBq. Scintillation imaging is performed with visualization of pathologically changed parathyroid glands. Early image is recorded in 3–10 minutes and delayed in 1.5–6 hours with set of pulses 1,000,000 per projection in matrix 512×512 pixels. Obtained images are transformed into matrix 128×128 pixels using a software image correction filter Astonish with brightness and contrast on the most contrast centers corresponding to the centers of pathological hyperfixation of the RFP. Hyperfunctioning parathyroid glands are visualized in typical and atypical localization: adenomas, hyperplasias, carcinomas.

EFFECT: method provides 25 % increase in the contrast of low-intensity lesions of parathyroid glands – adenoma, hyperplasia, carcinoma – in typical and atypical localization relative to the background, as well as reducing the dose of RFP introduced to the patient and, consequently, the radiation load on his body by changing the image recording matrix and processing thereof in combination with application of the Astonish filter.
