FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention concerns medicine, namely medical radiology, and aims at thyrophyma diagnostics. It involves planar scintigraphy followed with single-photon emission computer-aided tomography. In accordance with findings thereof, disturbed functional capacity of thyroid tissue is estimated. That is ensured by measuring the volumes of right and left lobes of thyroid gland, total thyroid volume according to planar scintigraphy and single-photon emission computer-aided tomography; it is followed with calculating the lobe volume ratio (Klobes), relative amount of nonfunctioning tissue (Knf), geometric to proper volume ratio (Kg), and predetermined combinations of Knf, Klobes and Kg values enable to diagnose either malignant lesion of thyroid gland, or thyroid adenoma, or to observe the absence of thyrophyma and diagnose nodular or multinodular goiter.

EFFECT: technique allows for quantitative estimation of functional capacity of thyroid parenchyma and for differential diagnostics of tumour.
