SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to medicine and can be used to relieve a symptom of an autoimmune disease and a chronic inflammatory disease. Method involves identification of a subject having an autoimmune or inflammatory disease. Periodically, the ration simulating abstinence from food is prescribed during the first pre-determined period of time, where said first predetermined period of time is 3 to 7 days. Ration simulating abstinence from food provides less than 100 g of carbohydrates with less than 30 g of sugars a day and less than 28 g of proteins/amino acids a day. Further, the ration is prescribed without abstinence from food to the subject during the second period of time following the first period of time; the ration without abstinence from food provides the subject with a normal level of calorie intake. Group of inventions also relates to a method for treating an autoimmune disease mediated by T-cells, particularly alleviating the symptom of multiple sclerosis.
EFFECT: use of the given group of inventions helps to alleviate the symptoms of autoimmune/inflammatory diseases by reducing the number of circulating T-lymphocytes and T-cell-induced lesions.
