SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical engineering, specifically to methods of producing aqueous colloidal solutions of sols of nanoparticles of transition metal compounds, specifically colloidal solutions of tungsten trioxide, which can be used to produce protective coatings, catalysts, dyes and composites and can be used in other areas where there is a need for such solutions. Disclosed is a method of producing pure aqueous colloidal solutions of crystalline nanoparticles of tungsten trioxide, involving annealing ammonium paratungstate at temperatures of 550÷800 °C for 10÷120 min in open container, annealing product cooling to 20÷25 °C, preparation of an aqueous suspension of an annealing product in distilled water, ultrasonic treatment of the obtained aqueous suspension for 1÷3 hours.

EFFECT: technical result consists in producing aqueous colloidal solutions of crystalline nanoparticles WO3 high degree of purity.
