FIELD: measurement technology.
SUBSTANCE: use: to determine strength characteristics of polymer composite materials. Summary of invention consists in the fact that when determining strength characteristics of polymer composite materials performing measurement of rod and torsional waves in rods with subsequent calculation of shear modulus G and Young's modulus E, wherein rods are used that are several times longer than their diameter, and rods are scanned from their end by rod and torsional waves with a wavelength significantly larger than the diameter of the rod under conditions of slight attenuation, absent or low velocity dispersion.
EFFECT: possibility of improving accuracy and reliability of determining strength characteristics of polymer composite materials.
