SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to fiber-optic telecommunication lines. An optical ground wire cable which ensures minimization of the longitudinal magnetic field created in the area of optical fiber, when an impulse of current passes through the ground wire, comprises a central tube with optical fibers arranged inside it and at least two layers of metal wires and/or composite materials. The wires are arranged on the central tube so that the twisting direction of adjacent layers of wires would alternate in the cable. The combination of the wire materials in layers, design parameters of wires and length of the twist of layers are selected so that modulus of sum |Σ| of electric conductivities related to the components of magnetic field created in each layer is minimal for a given set of design parameters of layers and properties of the materials:

where n is number of layers of wires; k is sequence number of layer; is the component of the longitudinal magnetic field of the kth layer; Zk is the resistance of the electric equivalent circuit for the kth layer of the optical ground wire cable when the impulse of current passed through the ground wire, depending on the design parameters of the layers, including the wire diameter, length of twist and layer diameter, and physical properties of the wire materials including electric conductivity and magnetic permeability of the kth wire layer material; mk is the lay ratio of the kth layer of wires; mk=hk/Dk; hk is the twisting length of the kth wire layer; Dk is the diameter of the circle circumscribed around kth layer of wires.

EFFECT: technical result consists in ensuring high operational reliability, attenuating the influence of lightning on transmitting an optical signal and reducing loss of transmitted data.
