SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a pyridine zirconium complex having general formula (I):

in which R₁ and R₂, identical or different, represent a hydrogen atom or are selected from C₁-C₂₀ alkyl groups, such as methyl, optionally substituted aryl groups, such as phenyl or phenyl, substituted with one or more methyl, isopropyl, tert-butyl groups, R₃, R₄, R₅ and R₆, identical to each other, represent a hydrogen atom, X₁, X₂ and X₃, identical or different, represent a halogen atom, such as chlorine, bromine, iodine, or one of X₁, X₂ and X₃ represents a group having general formula (II):

where R₁, R₂, R₃, R₄, R₅ and R₆ have same values as described above. Also disclosed are a catalyst system, a method for polymerisation of conjugated dienes and a method for polymerisation of 1,3-butadiene.

EFFECT: disclosed complex can be used in a catalyst system which enables to obtain polybutadiene with high content of 1,4-trans links.
