METHOD FOR ASSESSING THE SEVERITY OF ATOPIC DERMATITIS IN CHILDREN BY OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC A61B5/00

Abstract RU 2692955 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to paediatrics, dermatovenereology and radiation diagnostics, and can be used for assessment of severity of atopic dermatitis in children. Spectral optical coherent tomography of skin inflammation centers is performed. Condition of the four layers of the skin is evaluated as compared to the healthy one: layer 1 – cornea layer, layer 2 – epidermal cell layers, layer 3 – zone of dermo-epidermal connection – mutual penetration of derma papillae and epidermal outgrowths, and layer 4 – upper part of mesh layer of derma. If observing increase of height of 1 layer, its heterogeneity and unequal height along the entire length, a slight severity of the disease is determined. If height of 1 and 2 layers is increased, contrast between 2 and 3 layers is reduced, the signal intensity within 3 layers is reduced, and inhomogeneities of 2 layers are determined with average severity of the disease. If height of 1 and 2 layers is increased, contrast between 2 and 3 layers is decreased, the signal intensity is reduced within 3 layers, contrast between 3 and 4 layers is reduced, and inhomogeneities of 4 layers are characterized by severe severity of atopic dermatitis.

EFFECT: method provides higher accuracy, prescription of treatment in accordance with severity of the disease and, consequently, higher clinical effectiveness and prolonged remission by performing spectral optical coherent tomography of skin inflammation centers with assessing the state of four skin layers compared to healthy.
