SUBSTANCE: use: in the field of electrical engineering and power engineering. In the method of relay protection and control of electric substation, the electric substation is conditionally divided into power units, in each of which several electrical connections are connected, monitoring serviceability of all signal sensors and control devices of connections of each power unit of substation, recording currents and voltages, phase-by-phase phase currents are summed, taking into account their direction, of all connections of each power node of substation, if all sensors and control devices of the power unit connections are in good order and the sum of currents, taking into account their direction, of all connections of the power node of the substation is equal to zero, then each connection of the power node of the substation is controlled by local implementation of connection to monitoring, protection and control algorithms, if there is a fault in the sensor or control device of connection of the substation power unit, the current of this connection is determined indirectly as the sum of currents of other connections with a reverse sign, and stop controlling this connection of substation power unit by implementing local applied to connection of monitoring, protection and control algorithms, instead, this connection of the substation power node is controlled by implementing the monitoring, protection and control algorithms centralized in relation to the substation power node with parameters corresponding to the local operation parameters applied to the monitoring, protection and control algorithms connection, if all sensors and devices for control of connections of power unit are in good order, but sum of currents, taking into account their direction, of all connections of power unit of substation is not equal to zero and exceeds threshold value, then, it is decided that damage occurred directly in substation power unit and this node is disconnected by means of connection switch, which supplies power to this substation power unit.

EFFECT: higher reliability of relay protection and control due to combined centralized and local control and indirect measurements.
