FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to regenerative medicine, and can be used to characterize porosity of scaffolds and cell-engineering structures (CES). For this purpose, samples of scaffolds and/or CES are sequentially fixed in 2.5 % solution of glutaraldehyde and in 1 % solution of OsO4. After that, ultrafine cuts are prepared from which 2D images of internal structure are obtained on transmission electron microscope at 4400× magnification. Obtained images are processed using a procedure for generating a binary image using automatic adjustment of upper and lower values of threshold levels. Whole image is analysed by scanning the entire image.
EFFECT: invention enables to estimate structural parameters and porosity of scaffolds and cell-engineering structures.
