FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: method of protecting a component of a turbomachine from erosion when exposed to liquid droplets comprises coating the protective layer of the surface area of the component, exposed to fluid medium flow, containing liquid phase and subjected to technological process in turbomachine. Protective layer comprises multiple adjacent sublayers of two alternating materials, said materials having high hardness and low fracture toughness. First of two materials is stoichiometric nitride, or carbide, or titanium, or zirconium, or chrome, or tungsten, or aluminium, or vanadium, and second of two materials is non-stoichiometric nitride, or carbide, or titanium, or zirconium boride, or chrome, or tungsten, or aluminium, or vanadium. Another invention of the group relates to a component of a centrifugal compressor having a surface exposed to a fluid medium flow containing a liquid phase and compressed by a centrifugal compressor, and the area of which is coated with a protective layer applied by the above method. Other inventions of the group relate to a centrifugal compressor comprising said component, as well as to an axial compressor and a steam turbine, in which the blades have a protective layer applied by the above method.
EFFECT: group of inventions improves erosion protection of turbomachine component.
