METHOD OF DETERMINING READINGS FOR PERFORMING YAG-LASER VITREOLYSIS OF FLOATING VITREOUS BODY OPACITY Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC A61F9/00

Abstract RU 2695629 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to ophthalmology. Method for determining readings for performing YAG-laser vitreolysis of floating vitreous opacifications (FVO) includes estimation of distance from FVO to retina or posterior capsule of lens. When FVO near posterior capsule of lens, refraction of both eyepieces is installed in extreme position plus 6 dioptres. Further, the posterior capsule is focused by means of a slotted lamp. Then one of eyepieces is turned towards negative refraction to obtain clear image FVO. When FVO near retina, refraction of both eyepieces is set to extreme position minus 6 dioptres. Further, the retina is focused by means of a slotted lamp, then one of the eyepieces is rotated towards a positive refraction until a clear image is obtained FVO, then, in both cases, the difference in dioptres is recalculated between eyepieces in millimetres by formula:

,

where d is distance from FVO to posterior capsule of lens or retina in mm, L – length of eye, in mm, ΔD is difference in dioptres between eyepieces, 1336 is the refraction index, 1.662 is the distance from the corneal top to the main plane of the eye optical system, in mm, and the YAG laser vitreolysis is performed if the obtained distance is 3 mm or more, wherein refraction of both eyepieces is set to 0 dioptres.

EFFECT: use of this invention will make it possible to increase reliability, objectivity and accuracy of estimating distance from FVO to retinal or posterior capsule of lens, which will lead to higher safety of YAG-laser vitreolysis, reduced risk of iatrogenic damages.
