SUBSTANCE: method of forming a shaped stable tampon of the size includes the following stages: radial compression of the tampon base piece to form a spacer billet having an intermediate diameter of the billet and a longitudinal axis; placing intermediate billet in hollow holder and placing intermediate billet and hollow holder in mold; introduction under pressure of intermediate billet into mold by means of pushing force at end of intermediate billet contained in hollow holder, and removing the hollow holder from the mold such that the open end of the intermediate billet substantially fills the mold and forms a shaped, size-stable tampon; removal of shaped stable tampon from mold; and placing a shaped, stable-size tampon in a primary package, which corresponds to its shape. Mold has a hole for access through which a hollow holder can be removed.

EFFECT: disclosed is a method for forming a tampon for feminine hygiene.
