FIELD: optics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to connectors for optical fibres, namely to optical connections allowing connection and disconnection in a sterile zone. Disclosed medical optical system comprises an optical connector system configured to provide a reversible optical connection between two optical fibres, each having a plurality of cores of the optical fibre. Optical connector system comprises a first tip with an outer housing, a second tip with an outer housing and a receiving structure. Receiving structure has a receiving housing for receiving at least one of the tips and an optical element serving to provide an optical connection between the connected first and second optical fibres in the connected state of the optical connector system. Optical element serves as a sterility barrier between the connected first and second optical fibres, and the optical connector system is configured to rotationally align the first and second optical fibres in a connected state of the connector system. Optical element provides connection between each separate core of the first and second optical fibres. Optical connector system also comprises a rotary locking structure preventing relative rotation between the first and second tips.

EFFECT: technical result is creation of small-size optical connector system, non-sterile on one end, but remaining sterile on other end and providing low sensitivity to rotation.
