FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical chemistry and specifically to instrumental methods of determining content of mercury in biological materials. Method involves extraction of dosed amount of biological material, thermal decomposition of biological material in order to atomise mercury contained therein and its further determination by atomic absorption spectrometry. Biological material is used, which is preliminarily dehydrated by lyophilic drying, and the obtained lyophilizate in form of a dry powder is subjected to thermal decomposition, and mercury content in the biological material is determined using a previously obtained calibration curve.
EFFECT: higher accuracy and sensitivity of analysis when expanding spectrum of analysed biological materials.
