FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electronic engineering, in particular to the creation of cathode-mesh assemblies with field emission cathodes for vacuum electronic devices, including high-power microwave devices with microsecond readiness time. Cathode-grid unit with multiple field emission cells has a cathode of arbitrary shape, on which autoemitters are formed by any known method, and a grid electrode with holes forming together with autoemitters field emission cells. Grid electrode is separated from the cathode by a vacuum gap or an insulating substrate or is placed directly on the cathode surface. At that, the grid electrode consists of a dielectric film performing the functions of the mesh electrode carrying structure, conducting film formed on one side of the dielectric film and being the control mesh, or a conductive film, which is a control grid, and a conductive film which is a focusing grid, wherein the control and conductive films are formed on opposite sides of the dielectric film. At the same time control grid is divided into electrically isolated from each other, covering each hole or group of holes in mesh electrode elements, which have electric terminals for supply of different potentials to them.
EFFECT: high uniformity of current collection from automatic field-emission cathode cells.
