SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method, a machine-readable medium and a server for updating a credential of a card holder. Method comprises receiving, for each of a plurality of cardholder accounts, information for updating cardholder credentials, including a payment accounting number and updated billing account number, identifying a merchant associated with one of the plurality of cardholder accounts, based on the payment accounting number, creating a token for the cardholder account, creating an update file for the merchant to be updated by changing the cardholder credential update information for the card holder account, which change comprises replacing the updated payment accounting number with the corresponding token, and transmitting, from the credential updating server, the update file intended for the merchant to the third-party computing device for updating the stored cardholder credentials.
EFFECT: automatic updating of cardholder credentials.
