SUBSTANCE: invention relates to surgery, traumatology and orthopaedics, and is intended for use in treating periprosthetic hip joint infection. A patient is placed on an operating table. In the aseptic conditions of the dressing, the area of the fistulous opening and the surrounding skin are treated with antiseptics; the fistulous passage is separated with sterile tissues. Further, a fuchsia-shaped probe is used to define a direction of the fistula and its possible depth; arthroscopic cutters with a barrel and working part thickness of not more than 3–4 mm are inserted into the fistulous passage to the maximum depth accessible to the instrument to contact with the endoprosthesis or to difficulties with movement of the instrument and manifested painful patient's sensations in the manipulation area. Using the nippers, taking at least 3 samples of tissues from various sections of fistulous passage or joint cavity. Then the cutters are removed, each biopsy material is placed in a separate container with nutrient medium. An aseptic dressing is applied on fistulous course. Tissue biopsy tubes are delivered to a microbiological laboratory.

EFFECT: method enables obtaining a pre-operative reliable etiologic diagnosis in the absence of free fluid in the joint cavity, selecting etiotropic antibacterial therapy.
