FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical equipment, namely to systems and methods for performing phlebotomy through an intravenous catheter. Device for phlebotomy comprises a cannula, introducer, lock and actuator. Cannula has a proximal end, distal end and a gap between them. Introducer has also a proximal end, distal end and a gap between them and is configured to receive the cannula. Actuator is functionally connected with the cannula and is movable relative to the introducer in order to move the cannula between the first configuration in which the cannula is essentially inside the introducer, and the second configuration, in which the cannula is outside the introducer. Lock is connected to the distal end of the introducer and is configured to connect introducer with the peripheral intravenous line. Cannula is arranged inside and extends beyond the end of the peripheral intravenous line, when it is in the second configuration. Method of phlebotomy includes connecting the introducer with the peripheral intravenous line; moving the cannula by means of the actuator that is connected to the cannula and able to move along the length of the introducer, from the first position inside the introducer and outside the peripheral intravenous line to the second position - outside the inducer and inside the peripheral intravenous line. Container is then connected to the introducer, wherein the container is in fluid connection with the cannula. Cannula is drawn from the second position into the first position. In compliance with the second version, the device for phlebotomy additionally contains an adapter connected with the introducer; it has a distal end and is able to connect with the peripheral intravenous line. Adapter forms the first and second openings. First opening has a diameter and is made to receive the cannula. Second opening is orthogonal to the first opening. Actuator is made with the possibility of movement along the length of the introducer in order to move the cannula between the first configuration and the second configuration, wherein in the second configuration the cannula extends beyond the distal end of the adapter.
