FIELD: pure chalcogenide glasses production.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing highly pure chalcogenide glasses containing silver iodide, which are promising materials for the manufacture of lenses and optical fibers for optical devices operating in the spectral range of 2-18 μm. The method for producing ultra-pure chalcogenide glasses containing silver iodide includes loading the charge components into an evacuated quartz reactor, homogenizing the melting of the charge, quenching the glass-forming melt, and annealing the glass. Silver iodide is loaded into the reactor by chemical transport at a temperature of 600-700°C; gallium(III) iodide or germanium(IV) iodide is used as a transport agent.
EFFECT: increasing the optical transparency of glasses and reducing optical losses in optical fibers based on them by reducing the content of impurities in chalcogenide glasses and minimizing the deviation of the chemical composition of chalcogenide glasses containing silver iodide from the specified value.
