FIELD: astronautics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of operating a lithium-ion accumulator battery (AB) as a part of an unpressurized spacecraft with radiation design. In order to implement the method, AB accumulator temperature is monitored and maintained in the specified range, charges, discharges and storage in a charged state are carried out, wherein the charge is provided in the illuminated orbit with control of voltages on the accumulators, leveling is carried out on the residual capacity of the accumulators when the charge is carried out and in the absence of the discharge current of the AB, using the balance mode of the residual capacity of the accumulators. When complete charge of at least one of accumulators AB charge is stopped and measurements of residual capacity of each battery are performed in certain manner. Difference between values of maximum and minimum residual capacity on accumulators (AB unbalance), method includes balancing of residual capacity by means of forced discharge of accumulators with larger residual capacity to minimum value of residual capacity on accumulator, which is not subject to discharge; after that, battery charge is continued to achieve permissible values.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of use and longer life of the AB.
