Disclosed is a method of producing data applicable for prediction of overweight, obesity and/or complications thereof, which involves detecting and/or quantifying mRNA levels of Lrp11, Gls and Ubash3b genes in a biological sample recovered from a subject, wherein increase of Lrp11, Gls and Ubash3b gene expression relative to control reference value is associated with unfavourable prognosis. Disclosed is an in vitro method for prediction of overweight, obesity and/or complications thereof in a subject, an in vitro method for developing an individual treated leptin treatment or a leptin-containing composition and the in vitro method for assessing the clinical effectiveness using leptin or a leptin-containing composition, as well as kits for their implementation.
