FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to paediatrics and pediatric endocrinology, and can be used for prediction of risks of obesity complications. A body weight index is calculated and blood serum insulin concentration is determined on an empty stomach and 2 hours after the glucose tolerance test. Probability of developing metabolically unhealthy obesity P is calculated using the obtained values of body weight index of insulin concentrations in blood serum on an empty stomach and after glucose load. According to the obtained value P≥0.77 concludes that there is a risk of developing MUO, P<0.77 – no risk of developing MUO.
EFFECT: method enables higher accuracy of prediction of the risk of metabolic complications of obesity in children by assessing the child’s body weight index and determining insulin concentrations in blood serum on an empty stomach and 2 hours after the glucose tolerance test.
