FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to post-processing of contaminant emissions in exhaust of internal combustion engines operating on a lean mixture, in particular to blowing of a nitrogen oxide catcher (NOx). Disclosed is a method for purging a nitrogen oxide trap with the possibility of accumulating nitrogen oxides ejected by the engine in a normal engine operating mode on a lean mixture, and with the possibility of their reduction under the action of fuel from the engine in the engine operating mode on the rich mixture, wherein the method comprises: step (300), at which the need to purge catcher (12) when the mass of nitrogen oxides (MNOx) accumulated in the catcher reaches the threshold (Ms); and stage (800, 1100) of nitrogen oxides purging under action of fuel from engine, which starts after delay (T) of blowdown beginning, following stage (300) of demand detection in blowing; characterized in that purge stage (800, 1100) can be carried out in at least two different modes: in first mode of nitrogen oxides blowing, at which purging step (800) is stopped by criterion of conversion of enrichment signal from output oxygen probe (16) of trap (12); and in the second mode of intensified purging of nitrogen oxides, wherein purging step (1100) is stopped after predetermined continuous blowdown time.
EFFECT: technical result is efficient accumulation of traps at high level, close to maximum efficiency of about 80 %.
