FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method involves supply of gas flow ionized in corona discharge field with temperature of 40–80 °C into cutting zone, supply of sprayed liquid flow to processed part surface, and spot of contact of sprayed liquid flow with surface of processed part is located beyond contact spot of ionized gas flow. Flow rate of the atomised liquid is varied depending on the temperature of the part and does not exceed the value of the optimum cutting temperature for the given pair of materials of the tool and the workpiece. At that, additional flow of sprayed liquid is supplied to tool surface and its value is set so that minimum possible tool temperature is provided.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of cutting process due to providing optimum cutting temperature to increase tool resistance.
