FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to extraction of rare-earth elements from iron-rich ore containing rare-earth elements. Iron-rich rare-earth ore is processed by means of carbothermic melting of ore, which is controlled with achievement of optimum properties of molten slag by controlling level of residual FeO in slag. At that, in the slag there passes is concentration of minerals of oxides of rare-earth elements contained in the leached compounds. Molten slag after hardening is milled to the size of about 35 mcm, after which it is leached in hydrochloric acid with extraction of minerals of oxides of rare-earth elements from slag. At the melting step, the iron and manganese oxides contained in the ore are reduced to obtain low-manganese iron-in-cast iron in the metal phase.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to increase degree of enrichment and leaching of slag.
