FIELD: weapons and ammunition; measurement technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of evaluation of efficiency of armor-piercing ammunition and armor at their collision and can be used in creation of new ammunition. Method of selecting materials for bodies of armor-piercing subcaliber projectiles, which consists in the fact that during formation of armor-piercing subcaliber projectiles properties of shell material are determined, and shell body is made of materials with maximum density kp. Besides, value of heat of fusion of one mole of material of projectile Gp and weight value of one mole of material of this projectile Pp, ratio of said values Gp/Pp. As the material in the projectile body manufacturing the material is selected, for which the value of the ratio is minimum.
EFFECT: invention allows considering impact of missile velocity at collision and other physical properties of projectile material and target in order to obtain maximum depth of target penetration.
