FIELD: weapons and ammunition.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for evaluating the effectiveness of armor-piercing ammunition and armor during their collision and can be used to create new ammunition and new armor for the protection of objects. In order to implement the method of determining the depth of penetration of the target by armor-piercing subcaliber projectiles, the length of the shell and density of its material are determined. Density of target material is determined. Taking into account shell and target parameters, calculations are performed and depth of penetration is determined. Shell velocity is determined at the moment of collision. At collision rate less than 3,000 m/s heat of fusion to liquid state of one mole of substance of projectile material is determined. Heat of fusion to liquid state of one mole of target material substance is determined. Weight of one mole of material of projectile material is determined. Weight of one mole of target material substance is determined, and target penetration depth is calculated by means of mathematical expression.
EFFECT: improving accuracy of evaluation of efficiency of armor-piercing ammunition and armor considering impact of speed at the moment of their collision.
