SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a catalyst monitoring system. Disclosed is a method of controlling an exhaust gas toxicity control device connected to an engine. In one exemplary approach, the method comprises following a period of deceleration mode with fuel cutoff (SBRM), an indication of degradation of the exhaust gas toxicity control device based on the amount of enriched products required to exceed towards the enrichment of the sensor with the first threshold value, indication is carried out when the length of the MLR is greater than the second threshold value. Method also includes integration based on the air-fuel ratio at the inlet, which is started only after the sensor located before the catalyst reaches the stoichiometric level.
EFFECT: technical result is reduced probability of false characterization of degraded catalyst as a suitable catalyst (and vice versa), and reduced toxicity of exhaust gases.
