METHOD OF CALCULATING THICKNESS OF GRAFT IN CORNEAL EXCIMER LASER OPERATIONS Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC A61B8/10 A61F9/08

Abstract RU 2702310 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely ophthalmosurgery. Thickness of the flap is measured in the LASIK and Femto-LASIK corneal excimer laser operations to measure the maximum thickness of the corneal epithelium by optical coherence tomography (OCT). One drop of anesthetic is instilled into the conjunctival sac and injected into the eye to be anesthetized during surgery. 5 minutes after instillation, the maximum thickness of the corneal epithelium is measured. If its thickness is more than or equal to 80 mcm, then operation with formation of a standard flap from 100 to 130 mcm is planned. If the thickness of the epithelium is less than 80 mcm, an ultra-thin tissue-preserving flap with thickness of 90 mcm is planned.

EFFECT: method improves operation accuracy, reduces complications associated with under-correction or over-correction of patient's abnormality, reduces rehabilitation time and increases predictability of residual thickness of corneal stromal tissue.
