SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a reactor and a method for ammoxidation, particularly to an improved method of extracting catalyst in a reactor when producing acrylonitrile and methacrylonitrile, using an improved cyclone structure. Ammoxication reactor comprises an outer ring of sets of multistage cyclones suspended in a reactor, wherein each multistage set of cyclones comprises a first stage cyclone with an inlet of a first stage, configured to receive a stream of a reactor flowing upward from the fluidised catalyst bed into a reactor, and separating a portion of the catalyst from the reactor stream, wherein the ratio of the square area of the first stage inlet opening to the square meter of the available reactor cross-section area ranges from about 0.03 to about 0.05. Ammoxidation method involves reacting a hydrocarbon stream in a fluidised catalyst bed in a reactor to obtain a reactor stream and separating the catalyst from the reactor stream in the outer ring of multistage cyclones.
EFFECT: invention provides safe, efficient and cost-effective methods and apparatus for ammoxidation.
