DEVICE FOR DELIVERY OF THERAPEUTIC AGENT WITH RETRACTABLE CANNULA AND NEEDLE Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC A61F9/00 A61F9/07

Abstract RU 2703689 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical equipment, specifically to embodiments of a device for delivering a therapeutic agent into the eye. In the first embodiment, the device comprises (a) a body and (b) a cannula extending distally from the body. Cannula has a size and a configuration to be inserted between the patient's choroid and sclera. Cannula defines a longitudinal axis. Device comprises (c) a hollow needle having a proximal end, a sharp distal end and a needle lumen passing through it with the same inner diameter. Needle is configured to slide inside the cannula. Device has (d) actuation unit, wherein actuation unit is configured to actuate the needle relative to the housing. Actuation assembly comprises (i) a rotatable member rotatably connected to the housing. Assembly comprises (ii) a transfer member movably connected to the housing such that the distal end of the transfer member is disposed within the housing. Displacing element is functionally connected with the rotating element and with the needle so that the proximal end of the needle extends directly from the distal end of the moving element. Traveling element is configured to actuate the needle relative to the body in response to rotation of the rotating member. Device comprises (e) a fluid path extending from the proximal end of the device to the distal end of the needle. Distal portion of the fluid path is formed by a needle lumen. Fluid pathway is configured to be connected to the fluid source through the proximal end of the device for delivering the therapeutic agent into the eye. Device is configured to deliver the therapeutic agent distally, along the fluid path, regardless of displacement element movement. Device has needle actuation assembly. Needle actuator is configured to actuate the needle relative to the cannula. In the second embodiment, the actuation assembly comprises (iii) a projection fixed to the moving element, and (iv) a movable structure functionally connected to the body, wherein the movable structure includes a channel. Projection is arranged to slide in channel, wherein movable structure is made with possibility of movement relative to housing for interaction with ledge and actuation of moving element relative to housing in response to rotation of rotating element. In the third embodiment, the actuation assembly comprises (iii) a second moving element connected with possibility of movement with the first moving element. Needle is fixed axially relative to the second unit for actuation. First and second moving elements are movable together relative to the housing in response to rotation of the rotating member so as to actuate the cannula and the needle relative to the housing. Second actuating element is movable relative to the first actuation element for actuation of the needle relative to the cannula.

EFFECT: technical result is simplification access to the macula.
