FIELD: smoking accessories.
SUBSTANCE: smoking article (10) comprises tobacco rod (11) and filter (12) aligned along axis with tobacco rod (11). Rim envelope (16) surrounds at least part of filter (12) and at least part of tobacco rod (11), fixing axial alignment of filter (12) with tobacco rod (11). Filter (12) comprises hollow tubular element (13) on upstream end of filter (12) adjacent to tobacco rod (11), and first segment of filter material (15) downstream of hollow tubular element (13) and adjacent to it. Rim wrap (16) comprises line of least resistance (17), which passes along interface between hollow tubular element (13) and tobacco rod (11) or within 4 millimeters upstream of it. Tobacco rod (11), the first segment of filtering material (15) and the inner surface of the hollow tubular element (13) together determine cavity (14). Cavity (14) is configured to receive the burned end of smoking article (10) and any unburnt tobacco material when consumer decides to extinguish smoking article (10).
EFFECT: disclosed is a smoking article with improved damping.
