FIELD: smoking accessories.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a self-extinguishing smoking article having a modified structure of the rim wrapper. Smoking article comprises a wrapped rod of smoking material; a filter comprising one or more filter segments, wherein the filter is aligned along the axis with the wrapped core of the smoking material and adjoins the wrapped core of the smoking material in the contact surface; rim wrapper surrounding at least part of filter and attaching filter to wrapped core of smoking material; covering the rim of the tape surrounding the filter and lying on top of the rim wrapper on the upstream end of the filter such that the tape covering the rim lies over the contact surface between the wrapped core of the smoking material and the filter, note here that said tape is made from essentially airtight sheet made of cellophane.

EFFECT: considerably shorter self-extinguishing time of the smoking article and reduced visually noticeable coloring prior to quenching.
